THE BOY EXPLORER

We learned a song called We're Gonna Do Something! It was about........'building rockets, taking your Granny to the sea, planting flowers...'.
We all went out into the yard and placed our stones at the entrance so the boy explorer knew where to go.
When he appeared we all whooped and screamed! It was very exciting!! We sang our song for him and sent him on his fantastic adventure from Galway to Dublin!

THE BOY EXPLORER

The boy explorer lost his imagination and second class had to help him find it again. We came up with many brilliant ideas to make this world a better place.
The class wanted to give more money to the poor, open toymaster again, have more childrens art on the street, open a childrens art museum, visit more castles and ruins, plant more flowers and give empty houses to people who are homeless and open a 'make your own teddy' shop!

We shared our ideas and painted inspiring words on stones to guide him on his way like Hansel and Gretel so he won't get lost!

AUSTRALIA

We learned all about Australia.
We loved learning about all the unique animals such as the platypus, the crocodile, the koala, the kangaroo and the emu.
Ben went to Australia a few years ago.He brought in amazing pictures of the Great Barrier Reef, the outback, crocodiles, diving and kangaroos!!

MAKING INSTRUMENTS

We made many different types of instruments.
We made drums, rainmakers, guitars, shakers and shakers with bells.
Now we have our own instruments and we can use them whenever we want!

We made up sound poems based on sounds in school.
We also read many fairytales and created an alternative version of Cinderella!

Making harmonicas!

We cut straws different lengths and placed them together in order of size.We cellotaped them together to make a little harmonica. The short straw made a high pitched sound and the long one made a low pitched sound!

Sound experiments

We placed grains of rice on the tin and hit the side of the tin with a stick. The grains jumped! We learned how sound travels in waves and creates vibrations.

We also used a tuning fork to show that sound travels through air.We struck the tuning fork and then placed it against a plastic object. The object moved back and forth due to the sound waves!

We also struck the tuning fork and placed it into a basin of water. The water splashed proving that sound moves through water!
